About Michigan Inmate Population

Michigan custody searches are split among county jail rosters, MDOC OTIS, federal custody, immigration detention, VINELink, and court records. This privately operated site organizes those routes at the statewide level and points visitors to the county or agency source that fits the record.

Why This Site Exists

Michigan makes many jail, court, and corrections records available through public systems, but those systems are not one database. Each county sheriff controls local jail records. The Michigan Department of Corrections controls OTIS and state-prison records. Federal and immigration custody use separate federal tools. This site is an umbrella reference that helps sort those boundaries.

What Is Included

The site includes statewide inmate population context, county routing, facility routing, MDOC search guidance, and plain-language explanations of how booking, court, and custody records relate.

What This Site Cannot Do

This is a private reference site. It is not affiliated with any Michigan sheriff, jail, court, MDOC office, federal agency, or corrections department.

  • It cannot release, transfer, or hold anyone in custody.
  • It cannot post bond, schedule visits, send money, or change jail records.
  • It cannot provide legal advice or represent anyone in court.
  • It cannot guarantee that a roster, phone number, fee, or facility rule is current.

Search Partners

Some pages include search boxes or sponsored tools supplied by third-party providers. Those providers set their own prices, terms, and data practices. If a visitor uses a paid partner tool, this site may receive a referral fee. That support helps keep the public reference pages available, but it does not give this site control over partner results.
